Lightning Talks

Session 6: Students present their BSc thesis plans in 5 minutes or less

Lightning talks

A lightning talk is a very short presentation lasting only a few minutes. The goal of these lightining talks is to give all students an overview of other bachelor-thesis projects as well as receive feedback from peers.

Form: ca. 4 slides; 1) a cover slide identifying the speaker and title/topic; 2) a slide with the key research question(s) and relevant background literature; 3) a slide with methodological strategy and expected/preliminary results; 4) a slide with discussion points or outstanding issues. Use bullet points/header only and tables/figures as appropriate.

Delivery: Write down as text your presentation before giving the talk; practice delivery several times; do not read from slides; emphasize motivation and research question (the why) at least as much as you focus on methods and expected results (the how).
